Enter the Forgotten Valley

Day 2 of our four day paddling trip on the Hawkesbury River. As Ros was with us, we elected to take the canoe that was on offer at our accommodation out with us so Ros can enjoy the river too. We paddled upstream for an hour or two before turning around.

So why the title of this post "enter the forgotten valley" ? This is the name given to the region in the viscinity of Wisemans Ferry and the Macdonald Valley. I am guessing it is kind of tucked away, out of sight out of mind as they say.

The water was like glass, perfect for paddling. The birds were out and the whole morning was just one of enjoyment.

After the paddle we visited the Settlers Arms inn at St Albans for lunch. Established in 1836 this place is a popular weekend outing for many.

Peacocks and free range chooks are a welcome distraction.

And the food simply delicious.

Another wholesome day by the river.

The Plan:
Day 2 - 36km
Stay the day and explore MacDonald River to St Albans (18km)

Tides for the week – never in our favour !
